Prosecution announced they were dropping the first-degree murder charge against a man during reception court on Oct. 19.
Prosecution also chose to drop the charge of firearm use in the commission of a crime.
Dujuan Bennett, 33, had recently obtained his defense attorney, Roland Harris.
Bennett and Harris appeared in reception court for a pretrial conference on Oct. 1 when Harris requested more time to look over the case. The prosecution is now only proceeding with a firearm possession with a felony conviction charge, for which they offered a plea of 15 years, suspending all but 10 years.
