Pleasant View Gardens Shooter Found Guilty of Lesser Charges

A Baltimore City jury found 19-year-old Makhie Boyer guilty on several charges on May 20 in connection with a 2025 non-fatal shooting in Pleasant View Gardens.

Bouyer was convicted before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Alan C. Lazerow of conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony violent crime, and having a handgun on his person. Jurors did not reach a verdict on one count of firearm use in a felony violent crime.

The verdict came after Boyer stood trial for his alleged involvement in the shooting, which occurred at approximately 1 a.m. on May 12, 2025. The victim was wounded in the leg on the 1000 block of New Hope Circle.

According to court documents, Central District officers of the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) responded to Pleasant View Gardens after the victim sought help at a nearby home. Officers later recovered 23 9mm shell casings while searching the area.

During trial proceedings on May 19, the state’s case centered on allegations that Boyer conspired with two other suspects in the shooting. However, the attempted murder charge was ultimately not sent to the jury, narrowing the case to charges of assault, conspiracy, reckless endangerment, and handgun offenses.

Defense attorney Ben Baker challenged the strength of the investigation, arguing that the evidence tied Boyer more closely to a firearm than to an intent to kill the victim. Baker also questioned the reliability of the police work and the connection between Boyer, the suspected vehicle, and the shooting.

Sentencing has been set for July 31 before Judge Lazerow.
