A 29-year-old defendant is expected to return to Baltimore City Circuit Court next month to accept a plea offer in connection to a non-fatal shooting last June.

On Jan. 24, a defense attorney standing in for Natalie McKeown Finegar informed Judge Melissa M. Phinn that the defendant rejected the prosecution’s offer of 10 years, suspending all but five, with three years on probation for armed robbery, and one year to be served consecutively for discharging firearms. Under the plea, the defendant would also have to attend drug treatment.

In addition to the aforementioned charges, the defendant is also charged with robbery, theft less than $100, use of a deadly weapon with the intent to injure, and two counts of second-degree assault.

When Judge Phinn asked for a trial date, the defense attorney said plea negotiations were still underway and requested the case return to reception court in February when a plea would be presented and accepted.

Judge Phinn approved the request and counsel agreed on a plea date of Feb. 28.
