In reference to the death of 5-year-old Zona Byrd that occurred on Oct. 14, on the 2200 block of Aiken Street, Baltimore Police Department investigators have arrested the parents, 32-year-old Bernice Betty Byrd and 34-year-old Gerald Byrd.
Homicide detectives transported both parents to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where they have been charged with first- and second-degree child abuse and neglect of a child resulting in death.
Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate this case. The cause of death of Ms. Zona Byrd has not been determined as of yet.
