A Baltimore resident involved in a non-fatal shooting was not offered a plea from the prosecution on Jan. 6 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn.
During reception court on Thursday, the prosecution had no plea to offer for Lamont Wood as the initial prosecutor recently returned from medical leave and was not aware that the defendant was found incompetent.
Wood, 36, is charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a violent crime, use of an assault weapon, having a handgun on his person, and discharging a firearm in connection to an incident on Jan. 21, 2019.
According to court documents, on the day of the incident, officers were called to the 900 block of Coppin Court for reports of a shooting. On arrival, officers found a male victim suffering from two gunshot wounds lying in the hallway of the apartment building.
The defendant’s trial is currently scheduled for Aug. 17 before Judge Dana Middleton.
