A police officer testified to discovering a murder victim during trial on Oct. 22.
“I got a call about someone being shot near the 400 block of North Montford Avenue on July 4, 2022,” the witness said. “When I got to the block, I saw a body, a lot of blood, and a white van about 3:30 a.m.”
The victim was 42-year-old Leroy Jeter III, whom the defendant, 33-year-old Martez Brooks is accused of murdering.
Brooks’ charges include two counts of first-degree murder, firearm usage in a felony or violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, and transporting a handgun.
Evidence against Brooks includes surveillance footage allegedly of him near the scene and a hat with Brooks’s likely DNA.
The trial is expected to continue on Oct. 23 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Alan C Lazerow.
