Baltimore resident’s case was sent to trial on July 1 during reception court before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn

The 23-year-old defendant is facing six charges including possession of a firearm during drug crime, having a handgun on his person, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, and two counts of illegal possession with intent to distribute narcotics.

During reception court, Judge Phinn said she was troubled by the defendant’s failure to learn from his mistakes after being found guilty of possession of a firearm in 2017.

Following Judge Phinn’s ruling, the defendant’s defense attorney Robert D. Cole Jr explained that the defendant has voluntarily sought out mental health treatment with a psychiatrist and a psychologist. The defendant has also visited a drug counselor and attended the drug treatment facility REK Therapeutic as well as has a steady job at Five Guys, said Cole.
The defendant’s trial is scheduled to start on July 1 with Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Phillp S. Jackson presiding.
