A man charged in connection to a non-fatal shooting rejected a plea offer on Oct. 20 during reception court at Baltimore City Circuit Court.
The 37-year-old Baltimore County resident is charged with robbery, theft, two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of second-degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of false imprisonment, two counts of firearm use in the commission of a crime, and nine other firearm-related charges for an incident on Feb. 5.
The prosecution offered the defendant a plea of 18 years, the first five without parole, for robbery, first-degree assault, and use of a firearm in the commission of a crime.
The defendant told the judge that he wanted to be heard in mental health court.
Defense attorney Janet Anderson was not present on Wednesday because she was in trial. The judge and a colleague standing in for Anderson were also not aware of how to proceed with the defendant’s request for a mental health assessment, so the case was rescheduled for reception court on Nov. 3.
