Non-fatal shooting charges against a 22-year-old man were dismissed on Sept. 16 following the defendant’s acceptance of a guilty plea for a firearm and drug trafficking crime in another case.

Jawan Lee and attorney Sarah West—standing in for Avrohom Greenfield—appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge John A. Howard on Monday when the defendant opted to plead guilty in a case unrelated to the shooting. In exchange, the prosecutor dismissed four weapons charges, including discharging a gun, from an incident on Nov. 15, 2023.

According to the prosecution, Lee had an open warrant and was found with a loaded handgun and cocaine on March 19. West told Judge Howard that Lee knew “the life he was living would’ve put in him the ground” and was going to work harder to change course.

“Thank you for being reasonable with me,” Lee told the judge later in the proceeding. “I’m not the person these charges portray me to be.”

Judge Howard sentenced Lee to five years without parole for firearm and drug trafficking and required the defendant to register as a gun offender.
