Kamya Stratton, 18, appeared in court Aug. 21st, to set a trial date for her alleged involvement in a Feb. 3, 2024, murder. Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn presided over the reception hearing, where a date was set for her first-degree murder trial.
According to the charging documents, Stratton was identified by a witness as being the front passenger in the vehicle placed at the 3000 block of Edmondson Avenue, the scene of the murder. The witness claimed that the front passenger in the vehicle was also the alleged shooter.
The defendant, Stratton, stands accused of first-degree murder alongside co-defendant Noah Diggs, 21, in connection with the death of Melvin White, 55.
The co-defendants were previously set to be tried together on Aug. 10. Instead, the two cases will now be tried separately.
Stratton was made a plea offer for first-degree murder by the prosecution which offered a life sentence with 50-years suspended. Defense counsel stated that the defendant rejected the plea deal. Judge Phinn conferred on a trial date, which was set on Dec. 1 for five days, with Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Addison Howard to preside. Defense counsel noted that the defendant’s Hicks date speedy trial deadline was “well-past.”
