A man charged with murder rejected a plea offer and had a trial scheduled during reception court on Oct. 19 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Danjuan McBride, 24, is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a violent crime, and two counts of firearm posession with a felony conviction.
According to the Baltimore Sun, McBride allegedly shot 32-year-old Tavonte Briggs on the 300 block of Franklintown Road around 1 p.m. on July 25, 2020. Briggs was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The prosecution offered a plea of life, suspending all but 50 years, and three years of probation for first-degree murder, and 20 years for firearm use in the commission of a crime, to be served concurrently.
McBride and his defense attorney, Filia Morgan-Xavier, rejected the offer.
A trial was scheduled for March 16, 2022.
