Murder defendant Ronald Alston, 36, rejected a plea offer of life imprisonment before Baltimore City Circuit Judge Melissa K. Copeland on June 14. He has been charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery in connection to an incident on Feb. 18, 2020.
The prosecutor offered a plea deal to Alston of life, suspending all but 15 years, with five years of probation. Alston’s defense attorney Todd Oppenheim declined. However, Oppenheim said that they are open to negotiating a deal.
Oppenheim also discussed a pending motion to compel evidence in the case acknowledging a disagreement with the prosecutor about whether the material in question was related to the defendant’s appearance in mental health court.
The four-day trial is set to begin on Oct. 16.
