A 22-year-old attempted murder defendant received a trial date after rejecting the prosecution’s offer of 50 years before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland June 7.

Georvon Milburn is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, reckless endangerment, having a loaded handgun on his person, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and firing a gun in Baltimore City for a Dec. 30, 2023, shooting in Dunbar-Broadway.

Milburn rejected the prosecution’s offer of life, suspending all but 50 years, for attempted first-degree murder with a concurrent 20 years, the first five years without the possibility of parole, for firearm use in a felony violent crime. The offer also required Milburn to complete five years of supervised probation, register as a gun offender and stay away from and have no contact with the victim.

Milburn’s attorney Maureen O’Leary and the prosecutor agreed to a three-day trial beginning on Sept. 4.

The prosecution requested that the courtroom be wheelchair accessible, as the victim in this case is paralyzed from the waist down due to the injuries he sustained during the incident.

Judge Copeland scheduled Judge Alan C. Lazerow to preside over the case.

A Baltimore Police Department press release states Milburn is suspected of shooting a 35-year-old man on the 1400 block of East Fayette Street.
