A 38-year-old man accused of repeatedly firing a gun in the air earlier this year agreed to a five-year prison sentence as part of a plea offer with the prosecution.

Michael Middleton was facing 10 weapons charges in addition to reckless endangerment, intoxicated endangerment, public disturbance by intoxication and disorderly conduct in connection to an incident on Feb. 23.

On Dec. 19, Middleton and his defense attorney, Maureen O’Leary, appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Robert K. Taylor Jr. The prosecutor offered the defendant a plea of five years for firearm possession with a felony conviction, which he accepted.

According to court documents, a Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officer was patrolling around Carey and Cumberland streets where he heard gunshots and found Middleton on the the 1700 block of North Calhoun Street. The defendant was reportedly pointing a handgun in the air.

Video footage reportedly showed Middleton firing the gun in the air multiple times.
