A man charged with murder in a drive-by shooting claims he never had a gun the day of the crime before Judge Althea M. Handy of the Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Garry Morris, 24, is charged with two counts of first degree murder, firearm use in a felony crime and having a hand gun in the vehicle he was in.
He was called to testify on Nov. 15 by his defense attorney Mary Patton to review the day of the murder. On Dec 7, 2022, the victim, Amare Burruss was shot and killed on the 4200 block of Pimlico Road.
Morris says he was with his codefendants Darrean Flemming and Wesley Lambert drove from their hang out spot at a gas station and ended up at a McDonald’s where another shooting took place which had running towards a dumpster for cover–not just to urinate because of the unsanitary conditions in the restaurant’s bathrooms. Ultimately, he says he wound up at a friend’s house.
His attorney asked why he originally lied to authorities and Morris said he was afraid of the consequences. The prosecution asked Morris if he saw someone running away. Morris said he was heading to the car and didn’t notice the man jumping over the fence.
Paton asked Morris if he ever had a gun, and he said no and wound up at home the day of the crime.
