A man claiming to be a member of the famed “Jackson Five” singing group was found incompetent to stand trial in Baltimore City Circuit Court on Aug. 14.

Reginald Benbow, 61, is charged with possessing a firearm with a felony conviction, illegal possession of ammunition and firing a gun in Baltimore City for allegedly shooting his friend in the knee on Feb. 16.

“He had some interesting statements,” Judge Gale E. Rasin said, referring to his last appearance in mental health court. Benbow’s presence was waived in court this week because he was found to be a danger to himself and others.

In Benbow’s previous hearing, he talked about his affiliation with the Jackson Five as well as owning the Capitol Records company

Benbow was represented by Sharon Bogins-Eberhart, who stood in for Martin Cohen
