A Baltimore man accused of a non-fatal shooting rejected a plea offer during reception court on Oct. 29 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Edward Jerod Smith, 30, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, murder in the second-degree, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use in a violent crime, unauthorized handgun on person, and a loaded handgun in a vehicle in Baltimore City in May 2020.
The prosecution offered him a plea of 5 years for firearm use in a violent crime, to run concurrently to 15 years, suspending all but 5 years, for first-degree assault with three years of supervised probation, and an anger management course.
Smith was represented by defense attorney Richard Arnold.
The case is set for trial on April 18, 2022.
