A man charged in connection with a non-fatal shooting rejected a plea offer during reception court Oct. 5 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.
The 21-year-old Baltimore resident is charged with two counts of first and second-degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, three counts of conspiracy to first-degree assault, two counts of conspiracy to second-degree assault, two counts of conspiracy of reckless endangerment, and four firearm charges.
On Tuesday, the prosecution offered the defendant 20 years, suspending all but eight years, with the first five served without parole for one count of first-degree assault. The offer was rejected by the defendant and his defense attorney, Martin Cohen.
The prosecution asked for a postponement of a trial because one of the witnesses, a police officer, is in the military and traveling.
Judge Melissa Phinn set a trial date for Nov. 8 and told the prosecution that even if the witness wasn’t available, there would be no further postponements.
