Two separate trials were scheduled for a 27-year-old defendant charged with murder and attempted murder on Aug. 27 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Baltimore resident Matthew Lipscomb is charged in connection with an incident on March 1, 2017. His charges include attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, having a handgun on his person, firearm use in a violent crime, and two counts of firearm possession with a felony conviction.
Lipscomb is also charged in connection to a second incident that occurred four months later on July 1, 2017. These charges include first-degree murder, firearm use in a violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, and conspiracy to first-degree murder.
The prosecution offered life sentences for both cases to run concurrently; however, it was rejected.
Judge Melissa M. Phinn set the trial for the March 2017 incident on March 2, 2022. The July 2017 incident will go to trial on March 23, 2022.
