A man who is accused of the non-fatal shooting of a 43-year-old woman is awaiting a competency evaluation.
Bryant Ray Ferguson, 36, allegedly shot a woman on the 1700 block of Ellsworth Street on Nov. 21, 2020. He is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and 10 other firearm-related charges.
Ferguson, who is being represented by defense attorney Roya Hanna, is scheduled to return to mental health court on Oct. 20 when Judge Gale E. Rasin will determine if he is fit to stand trial.
Ferguson is also scheduled to return to reception court the day after to inform the prosecution of the evaluation’s outcome.
