Man Accused of Royal Farms Stabbing Rejects Plea

A Baltimore man accused of stabbing another man rejected a plea offer at Baltimore City Circuit Court on Nov 4. Judge Melissa M. Phinn presided over this case.

David Hanley is charged with attempted first degree murder, second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, and use of a deadly weapon with the intent to injure.

Hanley and his girlfriend were arguing inside a Royal Farms on 62nd Street on Jan. 23, where another man “imposed himself” into their argument. The couple left the Royal Farms, and the man followed behind them.

Surveillance video showed the man pulling out a baton and beating Hanley, who allegedly reacted in self-defense and stabbed the man over 10 times.

On Thursday, the prosecution offered the defendant 30 years with five years probation, which he promptly rejected. He was represented by defense attorney Bradley Macfee.

Hanley’s trial date is set for June 6, 2022, with Judge Kendra Y. Ausby presiding.
