A 21-year-old man accused of robbing and shooting one of two victims was denied bail on April 26 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Philip S. Jackson.
A defense attorney standing in for Roland Harris waived the appearance of Sean Horton as the court discussed the alleged shooting that took place on Feb. 18. According to Judge Jackson, Horton was part of a group who robbed multiple people, two of whom were shot.
Horton, who allegedly shot one of the victims, is charged with attempted first and second-degree murder as well as several assault, reckless endangerment, robbery, theft, and weapons charges.
Judge Jackson also discussed a separate incident that occurred a few days later when officers with the Baltimore Police Department identified the defendant as a drug suspect and found him in possession of a loaded handgun. The handgun was not the same weapon that shot the victims days earlier.
The defense attorney said Horton denies the shooting allegations and requested he be released on home detention.
Citing a 2019 firearm conviction and the aforementioned incident, which occurred days after the shooting, the prosecution recommended the defendant be held without bail.
Judge Jackson agreed and denied Horton’s bail.
The Maryland Judiciary website states that Horton is next scheduled to appear in reception court on Aug. 9.
