A man accused of a non-fatal shooting rejected a plea offer and had a trial date set during reception court at Baltimore City Circuit Court on Oct. 19.

The 39-year-old defendant is charged with two counts of first and second-degree assault, firearm use in the commission of a crime, two counts of reckless endangerment, and five other firearm-related charges.

The prosecution offered a plea of 25 years, suspending all but eight years, for two counts of first-degree assault; 8 years, the first five without parole and three years of probation, for firearm use in the commission of a crime; and he would have to register as a gun offender.

The Baltimore resident and his defense attorney, Andrew Clarke, rejected the offer and a trial was set for March 29.
