A Baltimore resident accused of a non-fatal shooting rejected a plea offer during reception court on Oct. 6 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.
The 40-year-old is charged with first and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, use of a deadly weapon with intent to injure, having a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun on his person, and discharging a handgun in Baltimore City.
The prosecution offered him a plea of eight years, suspending all but four years with three years of probation, for second-degree assault and three years for having a handgun on his person, to be served concurrently. He would also have to stay away from the business where the alleged assault occurred, have no contact with the victim, and register as a gun offender.
The defendant and his defense attorney, Donald Wright, rejected the offer. They are scheduled to reception court on March 23, 2022.
