A 43-year-old Baltimore man accused of murdering his fiancée last summer will be tried before a jury in June 2023.

George Kuhn allegedly called Baltimore Police on June 12 after fatally shooting his fiancée, 36-year-old Kristy Helmert, during a domestic dispute on the 6400 block of Erdman Avenue. Kuhn is facing first-degree murder and two weapons charges.

On Dec. 22, defense attorney Greg Fischer informed Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn that Kuhn requested and will receive a panel attorney from the Office of the Public Defender before agreeing with counsel on a four-day trial beginning June 20, 2023. Kuhn did not waive his Hick’s date, or right to be tried within 180 days of his or his counsel’s first court appearance; however, Judge Phinn found cause to schedule beyond Hick’s given counseles’ availability.

Judge Lawrence Fletcher-Hill will preside over Kuhn’s trial.
