Editor’s note: The defendant was acquitted of charges in this case.

Jury selection for the trial of a 25-year-old homicide defendant began on Sept. 22 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.

Baltimore resident Terrell Parker is charged with first-degree murder, illegal possession of a firearm, attempting to kill, first-degree assault, and firearm use in a violent crime.

He is charged in connection to an incident on Feb. 22, 2019.

Prior to jury selection, the prosecutor offered a plea of life, suspending all but 60 years, with five probation for first-degree murder, 20 years for firearm use in a violent crime, and 20 years for first-degree assault. The assault and firearm terms would run concurrently with the murder charge.

Defense attorney Donald Wright rejected the offer in May, allowing Judge Robert K. Taylor to proceed with jury selection.

The trial is expected to begin Sept. 23 and last for three days.

According to Baltimore Fox News, Parker allegedly shot Ray Parker on the 1500 block of Cliftview Avenue. The 28-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.
