A jury was selected for the trial of homicide defendant Rickie Louis Young, who is charged with two counts of first-degree murder for his involvement in a shooting last November.
Young, 20, is also charged with firearm use in a felony violent crime. His co-defendants, Aaron Millward and Devin Shadle, are facing the same charges.
According to the Baltimore Sun, on Nov. 7, 2020, at approximately 5:04 a.m., Baltimore Police Department officers were called to the 2400 block of Carroll Street after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, officers found 26-year-old Sharif Stewart suffering from gunshot wounds to his body.
Stewart was taken to Shock Trauma where he later died.
Prior to jury selection on Nov. 29, the prosecutor offered Young a plea of life, suspending all but 40 years, for first-degree murder.
Defense attorney Amy Stone and Young rejected the plea offer and Judge Barry G. Williams proceeded with jury selection, which ended Monday afternoon.
The trial is set to continue on Nov. 30.
