Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry G. Williams heard a jury declare defendant Ethan King, 19, guilty of conspiracy, attempted murder and related charges on Dec. 20, 2024.
The jury found King guilty of attempted first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony or violent crime, use of an assault weapon with a magazine, firearm possession with a felony conviction, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault.
The incident began on Feb. 6, 2024 when King was at a convenience store in Anne Arundel County with two other men. The prosecutor said one of the men appeared to have “bad blood” with King. The prosecutor then showed video evidence of the two men having a heated argument; however, the victim escaped in his black Cadillac Escalade.
Meanwhile, according to the prosecution, King and his co-conspirator chased down the person he wrongly thought was involved in the earlier argument. King and his co-conspirator drove through Baltimore County, cutting off the victim and each firing four times at the victim’s Cadillac at the corner of Ceddox Street and Pennington Avenue.
The prosecution urged the jury to find King guilty during closing statements on Dec. 19.
“Those are two people with the same goal, and that is the very essence of conspiracy,” said the prosecutor. “When you’re shooting at someone in a vehicle that’s approaching, the intent is to kill them.”
The prosecution showed the jury video evidence of a man, presumably King, to the jury.
“That is the defendant. He is a unique looking person,” said the prosecution. “He’s put on, what, five pounds since February.”
King’s sentencing will be announced on a later date.
