A jury acquitted Daquan Parker, 27, for the murder of 19-year-old Rasheed Lindsey on Jan. 29.

The incident occurred on March. 9, 2024 on the 5000 block of Pembridge Avenue.

Parker was charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony or violent crime, conspiracy to commit firearm use in a felony or violent crime and having a handgun on his person.

Parker was found not guilty of first-degree murder and for having a handgun on person. The jury declared no verdict on the other charges.

The decision follows a five-day jury trial. Defense attorney Hunter Pruette said that “this case is filled with reasonable doubt” during his closing statement. Baltimore City Circuit Judge Nicole K. Barmore presided over the case.

Pruette argued that the prosecutor’s case relied too heavily on the testimony of a single eyewitness, and pointed out several major discrepancies. The witness was unable to describe any of the perpetrator’s facial features, but was confident when identifying parker in a lineup. Parker’s height also did not match the witness’ initial description of the perpetrator.

The prosecutor argued that the eyewitness’ testimony should be trusted because it led to the discovery of weapons in the defendant’s apartment. However, Pruette stated that there were too many errors in the testimony, and described this case as an “incomplete puzzle.”
