Judge’s Absense Leads to Recheduling Homicide Trial

Baltimore resident Gilbert Della’s trial was scheduled to continue on July 1 but has been rescheduled due to Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Paul E. Alpert’s inability to be in court.

Della, 27, is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, two counts of use of a firearm during a violent crime and having a loaded handgun on his person.

Della is represented by defense attorney Jonathan Kerr and Megan Lewis. The defendant has been in jail for close to five years in relation to a felony conviction for second-degree assault.

According to CBS Baltimore, on Jan. 1, 2019, at around 4:30pm, Della allegedly shot 28-year-old Ikeem Issac on the 4900 block of Frederick Avenue.

Della’s trial is scheduled to continue on July 5.
