Judge Sets Mental Health Court Date for Stabbing Suspect

In reception court on Jan. 31, Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Melissa Copeland scheduled a mental health hearing and a jury trial for a man charged with stabbing a 14-year-old.

Brandon Adams, 20, was charged with first-degree murder and carrying a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure. No plea deal has been offered. A mental health court date was set for Feb. 12.

Adams was represented by Judit K. Otvos. His Hicks date is Feb. 17, meaning that’s the mandated deadline for the trial to begin, and Judge Copeland asked the prosecution to arrange a trial date within 30 days of the next hearing should Adams be declared mentally competent to stand trial.
