On Dec. 12, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Schiffer sentenced an unruly homicide defendant to life in prison, suspending all but 30 years with five years supervised probation.
William Clinton III, 22, is charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of 31-year-old Efraim Gordon on May 3, 2021. The incident occurred on the 3700 block of Fords Lane.
Though the court initially intended to try Clinton alongside co-defendant Omarion Anderson, his defense attorney Natalie Finegar declared an emergency after Clinton allegedly continued to threaten Anderson. Finegar demanded Anderson be moved away from Clinton to keep the situation from escalating.
The prosecution told the jury that Anderson fled the scene following the incident and that Clinton took Gordon’s car to pick up another co-defendant William Holloman.
The prosecution referred to Clinton’s past criminal history, calling it a “pattern of trouble.”
Clinton interrupted the prosecution several times throughout the trial, leading Judge Schiffer to tell Clinton to “show some respect and sit up.” Clinton ignored the judge.
Defense attorney Maureen O’Leary requested that Judge Schiffer sentence Clinton to 25 years rather than life in prison.
The prosecution summoned Gordon’s mother, aunt, and cousin, who demanded that justice be meted out to all those involved in Gordon’s murder.
No further hearings are scheduled in this case.
