“I appreciate the value of life.”

A 17-year-old defendant said as he addressed the courtroom on June 12 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lawrence R. Daniels during his sentencing for a 2022 homicide.

“Please forgive me,” said defendant Robert Jordan after pleading guilty on May 16 for fatally shooting Marco Nunez, 30, on April 25, 2022.

During Monday’s sentencing, the prosecution read numerous impact statements on behalf of the victim’s family.

“How am I going to tell my son?” read the prosecutor from a statement written by the mother of the victim’s child. The uncle of the victim described Nunez as always being happy.

During Monday’s hearing, Jordan was sentenced to 40 years, suspending all but 20 years for second-degree murder and a consecutive sentence of 20 years, suspending all but five years, the first five years without the possibility of parole and five years of supervised probation for the use of a firearm in a felony violent crime.

The defendant was represented by Michal Gross and Brian Levy.

According to charging documents, Baltimore Police responded to a shooting on the 1700 block of Thames Street. Nunez was found with multiple gunshot wounds and taken to John Hopkins Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
