Judge Schedules Trial for Eastern Avenue Murder Defendant

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn continued a hearing for a man charged with murder on Dec. 12.

The prosecution and defense counsel could not agree on a trial date before Monday’s hearing and requested the matter be held until Judge Phinn’s next available reception day.

Defendant Samuel Wise, who is represented by Stephanie Salter, is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted armed robbery, three counts of using a firearm in a felony violent crime, three counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first-degree assault, armed robbery, first and second-degree escape from a place of confinement in connection with an incident that occurred on Jan. 23.

According to the Baltimore Police Department, 23-year-old Wise was arrested and charged in April for the murder of 44-year-old Chesley Patterson on the 1700 block of Eastern Avenue.

Judge Phinn continued the hearing until Wednesday, Dec. 14.
