On March 1, a defendant charged with the murder of his 53-year-old girlfriend received a trial date before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn.
During Wednesday’s proceeding, the prosecution offered Bruce Poole, an open plea, where the defense counsel is free to suggest a term within the sentencing guidelines for first-degree murder.
Poole, who is represented by defense attorney Judit Otvos, rejected the plea offered to him.
Judge Phinn scheduled Poole’s trial to begin on June 27, and it is expected to last for three days. At this time, a judge has yet to be assigned to this case.
According to the Baltimore Police Department (BPD), investigators believe Poole fatally stabbed Kelly Logan during a domestic-related dispute.
As stated in court documents, on Sept. 17, 2022, the victim, Kelly Logan, had multiple stab wounds to the head and neck.
According to the Maryland Judiciary website, the defendant is charged with first-degree murder, having a deadly weapon with the intent to injure, altering physical evidence, and burying and disposing of a body in an unauthorized place in connection to the murder of Logan. Poole allegedly used a shopping cart to remove the remains of Logan’s body with the help of two other individuals.
