On Jan. 31, a man charged with the murder of his child’s mother received a date for his second retrial during his reception court hearing before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn.
During Tuesday’s hearing, the prosecution notified the court that a mistrial was declared in Arnold Larvon Johnson’s retrial which began on Jan. 19. There were no specific details given on the verdict.
Judge Phinn scheduled the defendant’s retrial date for Oct. 25. However, a judge could not be assigned to the case due to the October calendar not being available yet, according to Judge Phinn.
Johnson, 31, was arrested and charged with the fatal shooting of Maryann Wellington on the 4900 block of Goodnow Road on Feb. 15, 2019.
According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Johnson is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, and carrying/wearing a handgun on his person.
