Judge Schedules Homicide Co-Defendants’ Trial for February 2023

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled a homicide trial for two co-defendants, who were not offered plea deals as of July 7, for February 2023. 

Deonte Marvin Harris and Elijah Shannon, both 16 years old, are charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm during a violent crime, attempted armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in connection to an incident on Jan. 24.

Harris is also charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm as minor. 

During Thursday’s proceedings, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor informed the court that they currently have no plea offer on the table as it had not been through the approval process.

Harris and Shannon were represented by defense attorney Gregory Jones, a stand-in for Warren Brown, and, John Smith, a stand-in for John Cox, respectively. 

Harris and Shannon’s trial is scheduled for Feb. 6, 2023, with Judge Videtta A. Brown presiding.
