Judge Postpones Trial for Man Accused of Attempted Murder

During a Dec. 8 reception court proceeding, Baltimore City Circuit Judge Melissa Phinn postponed a hearing for a murder defendant after a witness could not attend the trial due to a family emergency.

Daquan Allen, 23, is charged with over 17 offenses, including two counts each of attempted first and second-degree murder, two counts each of first and second-degree assault, two counts of armed robbery, and discharging firearms in connection to an incident on April 24.

At Thursday’s hearing, the prosecution informed Judge Phinn that his main witness for trial was absent as he needed to attend to his young daughter’s medical emergency.

The court elected to postpone the trial.

Parties are expected to return to court on Feb. 2, 2023, for trial.
