A defendant accused of murdering 29-year-old Dione Solomon had his trial postponed before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn on March 2.
Defendant Matthew Lipscomb had a reception court hearing for the murder of Solomon on Thursday, just one day after being found not guilty for an attempted murder that occurred months before the aforesaid case on March 1, 2017, at Fauji Grocery Mart.
The prosecution requested a week postponement due to her late assignment to the case. She said additional time was needed to gather witnesses for the jury trial.
Judge Phinn postponed the hearing for March 10.
As stated in charging documents, Solomon suffered from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead as he was transported to the hospital. A witness identified Lipscomb as the individual who shot Solomon.
According to the Maryland Judiciary website, the 29-year-old defendant is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in connection to the murder of Solomon.
