On May 10, a Baltimore man convicted of murdering 32-year-old Tavon Hutton had his sentencing postponed before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Videtta Brown.
During Wednesday’s hearing, defense attorney Natalie Finegar requested a postponement of defendant Donte Brown’s sentencing due to a motion for a new trial filed by defense attorney Roland Brown.
Judge Brown stated she had a copy of the new motion since Feb. 13, and said, “I’m not inclined to postpone this.”
The 41-year-old defendant had his sentencing postponed for June 13.
Judge Brown addressed all counsels saying that the new date would not be postponed.
In January, a jury found Brown defendant guilty of first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person, and possession of a firearm with a felony conviction in connection to the murder of Hutton.
According to charging documents, Hutton was lying on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds on the 400 block of West Saratoga Street on March 5, 2021. Video evidence recovered showed Brown shooting Hutton.
