Judge Postpones Non-Fatal Shooting Defendant’s Trial to Early 2025

On Dec. 9, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland postponed the trial of the non-fatal shooting defendant to Jan. 23, 2025.

Matthew Leo Garner, Jr., 20, is charged with possession of a firearm as a minor as well as the firing and discharging of a firearm.

During reception court, the prosecution offered a plea deal of five years for possession of a firearm as a minor. Garner rejected the plea.

The trial is set to last for two days, with Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Kimberly Charon McBride presiding.
