A 58-year-old Baltimore man charged with attempted murder had his mental health evaluation extended on May 4 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gale E. Rasin.
Mark Williams is charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a violent crime, and reckless endangerment in connection to an incident on Oct. 7, 2021.
During mental health court on Wednesday, Judge Rasin informed the court that the mental health evaluator could not reach a definitive opinion and is requesting the court order a further evaluation at a department of health facility.
An extended evaluation order will be forthcoming., said Judge Rasin. She said it would be highly unusual for Williams to be admitted to the hospital promptly, so counsel should expect to submit a postponement request once he gets there.
Counsel had no objection to the mental health status of the defendant.
Williams was represented by defense attorney Thomas Rafter.
Williams’ next hearing is scheduled for June 8.
