On Oct. 2, a woman accused of murdering her two children appeared in reception court before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Jameria Hall is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in death and possession of a deadly weapon with intent to injure in connection to the Aug. 24, 2021, deaths of her two children, 6-year-old Da’Neria Thomas and 8-year-old Davin Thomas that occurred in the family’s home on the 500 block of Coventry Road.
According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, a maintenance worker alerted Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers to a “foul smell” coming from the family’s apartment. The maintenance worker found both children’s bodies already decomposing, with Davin in a sleeping bag and Da’Neria in the bathtub. When police arrested Hall, she allegedly admitted to the children’s murders.
Hall, 31, hasn’t been tried for these offenses before because she was previously found incompetent to stand trial in 2021, but her attorneys, Deborah Levi and Mary Pizzo, told Judge Phinn that her competency has since been restored.
Judge Phinn continued the hearing to Nov. 6 for scheduling Hall’s jury trial.
