Judge Assigns Trial Date to Third Defendant in Weapons Case

A defendant facing numerous weapons charges rejected another plea in Baltimore City Circuit Court on Feb 1.

During Wednesday’s hearing, the prosecutor offered defendant Stacy Ellis a plea similar to one rejected in late January. She proposed a plea of three years straight for having a handgun in a vehicle. 

Ellis rejected this plea prompting Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn to schedule his jury trial on Feb. 23 for two days. The case will be heard before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Sylvester B. Cox.

According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Ellis is charged with two counts of illegally possessing a regulated firearm, selling a stolen pistol, having a handgun in a vehicle, having a loaded handgun in a vehicle, discharging firearms, illegal possession of ammo, car theft, theft of property valuing between $1500 and $25,000, and the unauthorized removal of motor vehicle for an incident that occurred on June 30, 2022. 

Ellis’ is charged along with two other defendants in this case. Prosecutors elected to nolle pros the case against defendant Bryce Gray on Jan. 23. 

A bench warrant was issued on Jan. 20 for William Hall after failing to appear in court. He is scheduled to appear for a scheduling hearing again on Feb. 13.
