On April 4, attempted murder defendant Malik Alford’s trial was postponed and rescheduled before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland.

Alford, 22, is currently facing charges for attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in felony violent crime and firing a gun in Baltimore City in connection to the non-fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man in September 2023.

Alford was originally scheduled for a two-day trial on April 4 before Judge Barry G. Williams

However, the prosecution requested the parties return to Judge Copeland for rescheduling based on new evidence.

Alford’s defense attorney, Augustine Okeke, was not opposed.

Judge Copeland scheduled parties for a two-day trial beginning on July 8 before Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer.

According to a Baltimore Police Department press release, on Sept. 19, 2023, officers were called to the 5300 block of Jamestowne Court due to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, they found a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound. Alford was arrested at the scene.
