On July 24, a Baltimore City resident and his defense attorney Natalie Finegar accepted a guilty plea in a non-fatal shooting case before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Dana M. Middleton.

In accordance with 26-year-old Quantae Richardson’s plea agreement, Judge Middleton sentenced him to 20 years, suspending all but 15 for firearm use in the commission of felony violent crime and 25 years, suspending all but 10 for first-degree assault to be served consecutively. Both sentences carry five years of supervised probation each.

During the hearing on Monday, the prosecutor read from an impact statement by the victim stating, “‘This has affected my mental state tremendously, lost my memory, I want him to pay for what he’s done.’”

The defendant was originally charged with first-degree assault, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, use of an assault weapon with a magazine, illegal possession of ammunition and use of a deadly weapon with the intent to injure in connection to an incident that occurred on May 18, 2019.

According to an unreported report in the court of special appeals of Maryland, the defendant is accused of attacking the victim with a brick while he was loading his child into a car. The victim brandished a gun and Richardson shot at the victim and missed. The victim returned fire and hit the defendant in the leg.
