Jury selection began on April 14 for Marquita Echols, who faces charges in connection to an alleged drive-by shooting incident. The proceeding was held before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Kimberly C. McBride, who scheduled the jury trial for April 15 and 16.

Echols, 39, faces two counts each of first- and second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault, and several firearm-related charges.

According to charging documents, on the afternoon of Sept. 7, 2024, officers responded to the Sleep Inn & Suites located at the 300 block of Fallsway following reports of a shooting. The incident allegedly involved a targeted attack toward two members of the inn’s staff.

Private security camera footage captured an individual appearing panicked as a vehicle approached the scene. Witnesses claimed four to six gunshots were fired through the front passenger window. A staff member positively identified a person said to be Echols as the shooter due to her prior stay at the inn.

After conducting an area canvas of the scene, investigators recovered five shell casings. No injuries were reported.

Echols’ next two proceedings will be held before Judge McBride.
