On June 21, at the beginning of a homicide trial, the prosecution opened arguments by saying the incident was no accident before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Videtta Brown

Baltimore resident Deshon Walker is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, five counts of use of a firearm during a violent crime, three counts of reckless endangerment from a car, two counts of first-degree attempted murder, two counts of conspiracy to first-degree murder, possession of a firearm as a minor, having a loaded handgun in a vehicle, two counts of attempted armed robbery, and three counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery in connection to the murder of 18-year-old Riyad Campbell on the 2400 block of Tolley Street after the robbery of a large group of people.

During opening statements, the prosecutor argued about the defendant’s ill intentions while driving around on the night of the incident and ended his statements concluding this was no accident.

Tony Garcia, representing Walker, 19, opened his statements by indicating the security camera footage and the cellular analysis report will speak for themselves. He further explained that there would be no evidence of Walker with the handgun used at the scene.

The Baltimore Police Department officer who received a call for a firearm discharge on the night of the incident, testified about finding multiple shell casings on the scene that night.

During cross-examination, Garica questioned where the officer found the shell casings as well as the people he interacted with that night. He also questioned how the officer came across the shell casing, which further encouraged his implication of the movement of the shell casings by cars that passed through the scene.

Walker’s trial is scheduled to continue on June 22.
