On Aug. 29, a homicide defendant had his hearing rescheduled for reception due to pending evidence before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Donzo Monk Jr., 26, is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, having a handgun in a vehicle, having a handgun on his person, and possession of a firearm with a felony conviction in connection to an incident on March 10.
The prosecutor presented a life plea for first-degree murder and 20 years without the possibility of being eligible for parole after the first five for the use of a firearm during a felony violent crime.
The prosecutor informed the court that there was still waiting for evidence: DNA and video footage. Everything else is complete, he said.
Monk and his defense attorney Augustine Okeke, are still considering the offer.
According to a news release, Monk Jr., a repeat violent offender, was arrested for a shooting on the 6800 block of Sturbridge Drive at approximately 2:08 p.m.
They found 26-year-old Bryant Timmons suffering from an apparent life-threatening gunshot. He died in the hospital three days later.
Monk’s next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 15.
