On Dec. 5, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer sentenced murder defendant Aaron Michael Clubb to life plus five years in prison.

Clubb, 27, was charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and illegal possession of a regulated firearm in relation to the murder of 22-year-old Jaquan Johnson in July 2019.

Clubb is represented by Alex Leikus. On May 11, the jury found Clubb guilty on all charges.

Leikus filed a motion for a retrial bases on insufficient evidence and said his client wants new representation due to poor communication between the two. However, the judge denied that motion.

According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, on July 15, 2019, Baltimore Police Department officers responded to the 200 block of North Linwood where they found Johnson suffering from fatal gunshot wounds the result of a botched drug deal and robbery.

Clubb was originally identified as another victim, when he was found on the 2900 block of East Fayette Street with a gunshot wound to his left knee. After further review of surveillance camera footage, Clubb was identified as the suspect.
